Dr. Eric Millstein, Medical Director
Eric Millstein, MD, has presented research on long-term outcomes of ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and remains active in teaching other surgeons complex arthroscopic techniques as a complement to his clinical practice.

Dr. Steven Meier, Medical Director
Steven W. Meier, MD, focuses on shoulder, knee and athletic injuries as well as the surgical and non-surgical treatment of these conditions. His emphasis is on minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and all-arthroscopic repair for rotator cuff injury and shoulder instability, as well as reconstructive cartilage and knee ligament surgery. Dr. Meier’s specialized training provides him with expertise in the use of state-of-the-art, arthroscopic techniques for treating problems of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip and ankle.
Teaching and research are essential for staying at the forefront of this evolving medical specialty. Dr. Meier regularly presents original research, performs surgery internationally and teaches advanced arthroscopic procedures to surgeons all over the world in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa as well as throughout the United States. He has also published numerous articles in specialty textbooks and journals.
In addition to teaching at the Shoulder Surgery Center of Excellence at La Peer Health Systems in Los Angeles, Dr. Meier also has a private orthopedic practice.
Dr. Joseph Isaacson
As a private practice orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Isaacson specializes in working with children and people with congenital abnormalities and small stature as well as joint reconstructive surgery in young adults. Dr. Isaacson has his own orthopedic practice and works at City of Hope with childhood cancer patients. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Orthopedics at the University of Southern California and a member of the medical staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where he has served on many medical committees including the Medical Executive Committee. He is also on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he has held more than 14 committee and board offices.
Dr. Melvin Nutig
Dr. Nutig has had a long and distinguished career in orthopedic surgery, and he is proud of his position as one of the senior members of the Beverly Hills Orthopedic Group. He is a general orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in sports medicine, as well as shoulder, elbow, hip and knee surgery, and has his own orthopedic practice. He was also an early champion of telemedicine, the use of modern communication technology for the delivery of medical care where it might otherwise not be available. He has been recognized as an expert in the field, both locally and nationally.
Dr. Peter Newton
Dr. Newton began his orthopedic training in New York City with an orthopedic research fellowship at Columbia University. Thereafter, he did his general surgery internship at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital followed by his orthopedic residency at the New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then spent an additional year in San Diego, obtaining a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic surgery, and knee and shoulder reconstructive surgery. He has his own practice specializing in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Andrew Weiss
Andrew Weiss, MD, attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors/ Alpha Omega Alpha before going on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA/ Harbor Medical Center. Dr. Weiss is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He serves on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Olympia Medical Center. He also serves on the the faculty of Harbor/UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia
Dr. Ahluwalia received his orthopaedic training at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program in Boston, one of the most sought after training programs in orthopaedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston. He is trained in arthroscopic repair of rotator cuffs and cartilage repair of the shoulder as well as conventional and reverse shoulder replacement surgery. His fellowship in Sports Medicine was completed at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. This is accredited by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has a private orthopedic practice and is trained in advance techniques for knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction along with other sports related conditions.
Dr. Rajan Patel
Rajan Patel, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and accomplished sports medicine doctor who served as the team physician for professional baseball, soccer, tennis, and hockey. While most surgeons take one fellowship, Dr. Patel completed additional fellowship training in joint reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania, where he developed his skills in complex adult reconstruction of the hip. Along with primary and revision joint reconstruction, his other clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, alternative bearings for joint reconstruction, computer assisted surgery, and orthobiologic applications in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Patel also has a private orthopedic practice in addition to being the director of the Knee Surgery Center of Excellence.
